Amidst the turmoil of the Russo-Ukrainian war, artist Xu Weixin has taken up his brush as a powerful instrument of defiance and change. With an unyielding determination to capture the essence of the conflict, his daily iPad sketches embody not just an artistic expression, but a testament to resilience and resistance. As he meticulously chronicles the war's unfolding, Xu Weixin's works are imbued with a deeper purpose – to stand in opposition to the invaders and to illuminate the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people. With each brushstroke, he conjures a message of hope, a narrative of strength emerging from the darkest of times. In the Face of War
Russia and Ukraine have been at war for fifty days. As an artist, it is my wish to record the war, oppose the invaders and oppose the war with a paintbrush. So far, I have painted 43 iPad works. I plan to draw one every day, which will not stop during the war. These various sketches will eventually be combined into a large-scale work entitled "Ukraine". I hope the scale of this work will not be very large, which means that the war will end as soon as possible…..
